The Legends and Myths | Ketebe

Ketebe published Chingiz Aitmatov’s “The Legends and Myths” with a translation by Fatma & Serdar Arıkan.

Born in Kyrgyzstan, Chingiz Aitmatov grew up with the folk songs, lullabies, tales and legends he listened to from his grandmother Ayimkan. His grandmother takes Chingiz almost everywhere she goes to visit, to celebrate the birth of a newborn baby, to a funeral, to a wedding. In this way, Aitmatov heard brand new songs, poems, tales and legends.

In “The Legends and Myths”, Aitmatov describes the supernatural events that occur for various reasons with great realism and a unique style; It takes the reader to difficult times of war, mythical ancient times, magical places and epic narratives.
