ONK Agency Ltd., formerly ONK Copyright Agency, was established in 1959 by Osman N. Karaca with the exception of a few representatives that already dealt
with copyrights regarding photography, feature articles and comics strips, ONK became the first and largest literary and dramatic agency in Turkey over the years.

During the initial years there were special difficulties since legislation concerning copyrights had only recently been passed by the Turkish Parliament and the concept
of "copyright" was too new and strange for the Turkish publishers and theaters to adapt too easily. It was only after Mr Karaca resigned from his post as the
editor-in-chief of a major daily newspaper in 1966 and devoted his time to the agency that the firm and the "concept" flourished.

Today the agency represents not only foreign writers but many Turkish writers as well. In fact, ONK is the foremost agency that Turkish writers have selected to be
their represantative. So far, seventy writers, translators, dramatic composers and artists are affiliated with the agency.

Legal matters are handled by advisers and lawyers of the Istanbul Bar Associat

The amount of commission received by ONK Agency for the activities handled varies between 10% and 35% depending on the sort of the work executed. However, the agency commission on book rights is generally 10%, whereas for the placement of plays and serial rights the percentage is comperatively higher.

The agency commission is always deducted from the gross royalty amount due to the foreign client and not from the local publishers or theaters.

President :	OSMAN N. KARACA Born in 1923, Osman N. Karaca is a graduate of Galatasaray Lycée and Lausanne University. He worked in journalism until 1959, serving as editor-in-chief of major newspapers of the day as Yeni Sabah and Akşam. In 1959 he founded ONK Agency Ltd., the first copyright agency in Turkey. He is presently the Chairman of the Board of Directors of ONK Agency Ltd. and MAG Multimedia Ltd. Mr Karaca served as a member of the faculty of the Institute of Journalism at İstanbul University between 1962-1982. He is a member of the Journalists' Association and has served two terms on that organization's board of directors. He holds an honorary press card and is a long-time member of both ITI and IPI.
Vice-President :	MEHMET N. KARACA Born in 1962, Mr Mehmet N. Karaca is a graduate of the German High School in İstanbul and of the Faculty of Business Administration at İstanbul University. He served his apprenticeship at Repro Advertising Agency and at Robert Bosch GmbH in Germany. In 1985 he joined MAG Multimedia Ltd. as manager for sales administration and was promoted to managing director in 1988. He founded MEDYAPIM Inc. in 1993 together with Güzel Sanatlar Advertising Agency, Mr Fatih Aksoy and Mr Yiğit Sardan. He is a member of the board of directors and Vice Chairman of MEDYAPIM Inc.
